DESCRIPTION:One of the largest half-distance triathlons in North America runs straight through downtown Augusta. Athletes swim 1.2 miles downstream in the Savannah River\, ride 56 miles out through rural Georgia\, and finish with a 13.1-mile loop through the historic downtown and along the Riverwalk. \nSunday\, September 27\, 2026. Race window 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The finish area and race village are at the Augusta Common on Reynolds Street. \nFree to watch\, and worth watching even if you know nobody racing. Broad Street and the Riverwalk fill up for most of the morning. \nWorth knowing if you are not going: downtown road closures reshape traffic for the whole day. Check the City of Augusta closer to the date for the closure map.

DESCRIPTION:Harlem was Oliver Hardy’s hometown\, and once a year the whole downtown turns out for him. The parade steps off at 10 AM\, and North Louisville Street fills with something like a hundred craft and food booths\, a stage running variety acts all day\, look-alike contests\, classic comedy shorts at the local theater\, and a kid zone. Most years it draws around ten thousand people. \nSaturday\, October 3\, 2026\, 9 AM to 3 PM. Parade at 10 AM. \nThe 2026 theme is Swiss Miss\, after the 1938 Laurel and Hardy feature. \nFree to attend. The Harlem Museum and Welcome Center\, home of the Laurel and Hardy Museum of Georgia\, anchors the festival at 135 North Louisville Street. \nDowntown Harlem\, Georgia\, about ten minutes west of Grovetown.
